Taped FM Synths is the first curated collection of sounds from my personal library. This pack delivers raw, vintage-infused character, perfect for any project that needs authentic analog warmth. This is hopefully a Part One of my ongoing journey into FM sound design.

I captured these one-shots through a vintage cassette deck, imbuing each sound with the  rich character of magnetic tape.

What’s Inside

• 100+ One-Shot Samples: A toolkit of iconic FM sounds, each provided in two distinct flavors.
  • 73 Synths
  • 22 Basses
  • 21 Drums
• Two Tape Flavors: All sounds are included in both Type I and Type II versions.
• Bonus MIDI Chords: 67 essential guitar-based voicings (Major, Minor, Dominant, etc.), arranged in C-key for easy transposition.

About Multiple Pitches
Some sounds are provided in several octaves (e.g., C3, G3, C4, G4, etc.). This is intentional: with FM synthesis, vibrato and LFO movement change as the pitch goes higher. Including these variations gives you more natural results and saves you time when producing.

About Loudness

These samples are left with headroom (~ -5 dB peak) to preserve natural dynamics and avoid clipping. This gives you flexibility when layering or processing.

The Gear Behind the Sound

This pack is a work of love, captured with a vintage Sony TC-FX220 cassette deck. The raw character comes from two iconic tapes:

• Sony HF-60 (Type I) - manufactured between 1988-2000
• TDK CDing II (Type II) - manufactured between 1990-2005

Sound sources

• Korg Volca fm2
• Dexed by Pascal Gauthier of Digital Suburban
